Local author Dick Courteau will read from his latest book, Profoundly Country: Memories and Meditations of an Old Farmer/Cowboy.

Nonagenarian Dick Courteau from Madison County has recently released his second publication. Named Profoundly Country: Memories and Meditations of an Old Farmer/Cowboy, this work weaves together tales of adventure from his days as a cowboy with insights into life in the countryside and the people who call it home, many of which are drawn from his over 50 years of rural existence in Madison County. Many of the essays in this book were initially featured in Rural Heritage magazine. Mr. Courteau has been a consistent contributor to Rural Heritage since 2020 and has also had articles published in Orion (a magazine focused on the environment) and various magazines about horses.

As you delve into his book, you'll be greeted by a clear, genuine, and unique voice. It's the voice of a seasoned old-timer around a campfire. You’ll find yourself entranced by the rhythm of the voice, impressed by its accuracy, and certainly entertained by its wit and humor.

Books will be available for sale and signing.
