Join Visiting Artist Allison Blevins for this workshop on hybrid writing.
This class will look at examples of hybrid work, and attendees will create a broadside, an art print that incorporates imagery and printed text, typically highlighting a poem or short piece of prose, in class. Please bring a work you'd like to make into a broadside along with you.
Allison Blevins is a poet and publisher who writes confessional free verse poetry and finds inspiration in both traditional and pop culture. She writes to confess her sins and connect with a world she feels largely disconnected from as a neurodiverse person and a person with a physical disability. Her work centers difference and queerness in a world that seeks to other, to push her to the margins. She uses hybrid techniques to open the boundaries of free verse. Her work lives in a space between poetry, flash nonfiction, and abstract art.
