An energetic and fun approach to songwriting for kids and teens.
Award-winning songwriter Dinosaur O’Dell will help students develop an awareness of language and an understanding of song form. Language will be explored through alliteration and rhyme (inspired by examples in advertising, music, Dr. Seuss and Shakespeare.) Students will write their own poetry and transform it into raps and melodies that will then be structured into songs.
Musical experience is not needed; curiosity and interest are all you need to come away inspired!
This workshop is best for grades 4–8; if you have a child outside of this age category with an interest in songwriting, please email kidsquestions@faylib.org.
