We have partnered with CARE Community Center as a venue for free tax preparation on Fridays and Saturdays during tax filing season.

Fayetteville Public Library is partnering with CARE Community Center as a venue for free tax preparation on Fridays and Saturdays this tax filing season. This program is a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program from the IRS.

CARE Community Center provides free income tax preparation to eligible taxpayers. Taxpayers must have a gross income of $68,000 or less to be eligible for tax preparation services. Their certified volunteers complete hours of training to ensure taxpayers receive quality tax preparation service, an accurate tax return to be filed in a timely manner, and to ensure all appropriate tax credits are utilized.

Sessions are by appointment for intake service, and do not provide walk in appointments due to COVID-19. Per city regulations, you must wear a face covering when you interact with our volunteers and maintain a six feet distance.

To further limit exposure, CARE Community Center offers a new Mobile App option that is available on their website. This app allows for tax preparation without coming in to one of our locations.

Beginning February 5, appointments at the Fayetteville Public Library will be on Fridays and Saturdays between 9:30am–3:00pm. To make an appointment, please call 479-246-0104 or visit www.carecc.org, to see all Tax Center days and locations, as well as additional helpful information.  Informational tax packets must be completed before your scheduled appointment. Packets are available on the CARE Community Center website or at the library’s Help Desk.
